Coaches Report: 2025 Mattioli Victorian Age Long Course Championships

We had 11 swimmers representing our club at the 2025 Mattioli Victorian Age Long Course Championships, held from 10th – 15th December 2025 at Melbourne State Sports Centres - MSAC.

Karen, Miguel, Julia, and Lithara made their debut at the State Long Course Championships. Other senior swimmers, including CJ, Keith, Marjy, Fiona, Gou, Bronwyn and Daniel all competed in events chosen to suit their schedules and personal preferences. All swimmers swam well to achieve new Personal Best times and/or set new Personal Best Pace times. We can also see the younger swimmers developing well and stepping up into the State championship competitions. 

Highlights at the competition include: 

• Keith competed in three events. He qualified for the 50m Breaststroke final, placing 8th and also qualifing for both National Age and National Open times!

• Daniel competed in six of his favourite events. His 200 Butterfly, 200 IM, and 400 IM performances qualified for the finals. He placed 5th in the 200 Butterfly, 9th in the 200 IM, and 10th in the 400 IM.

• Karen competed in six events. Her 200 Butterfly qualified for the final, where she placed 8th.

• Fiona competed in five events. Her 200 IM and 400 IM qualified for the finals, while her 200 Backstroke finished as a final reserve. She placed 7th in the 200 IM and an impressive 4th in the 400 IM.

• Julia competed in 12 events at her Victorian Age Championships debut. Three of these events qualified for the finals, with two additional events finishing as final reserve. She placed 9th in the 200 Backstroke, 7th in the 100 Backstroke, and 10th in the 100 Breaststroke.

  
  

Their outstanding performance placed our club ranking at 37th at these Championships.
